MG TD TF 1500 - Flummoxed - the sequel
New coil, fired up first time! Thanks for all your help and encouragement. Now I need to find an original looking coil (black with a rolled can end, not the extruded aluminium which is working). IanB

Ian, Paint the new coil satin black. No one looks that closely. Unless you're absolutely concours on your car. warmly, dave

Ian, so now you are "chuffed", not "flummoxed", is that correct? (That's what Edd would say on Wheeler Dealers, anyway. I need to get these words "sorted out" soon!)

Thanks Ed! Really I am 'right chuffed' since I originate from the north of England. IanB

I run a sports coil, painted black, with a Lucas sticker on it. Can't recall where I got the sticker right now ...but can get a picture of it for you and post later if you have an intrest. IMHO: Looks more "orginial" than the brite-blue Bosch that was on the car when I bought it. I also run a Petronix and covered the "dual leads" to the dizzy with some amp black expandable webbing. Not "correct" but looks somewhat "period correct". Used the webbing in quite a few palces when I re-wired my car. Horns, Lights, ect. I did many changes to my electrics including extra switches, fusing and conversion to neg ground. Some of the "mods" can be seen on : http://www.ttalk.info/

Glad you found the problem Ian. I really was intrigued. I am originally from the North of England too, but have been in the US for 45 years. 'Dead chuffed' would be authentic too. efh, I have discovered that it is now just 'sorted' not 'sorted out'. I don't know when this occurred, but to be bi-lingually contemporary you have to miss out the 'out'.
