MG TD TF 1500 - First Drive of 2012
It is 65 F and sunny here in eastern North Carolina and I have the TD out and doing ride abouts- very nice. Weather is forecast to change tomorrow night to cold and dreary.
Dallas Congleton
Hi Dallas, We took Emma the TF out this PM also. Were out on the boat for lunch yesterday. But like you say, it's gonna get cold. Saw a friend putting away the sails after he returned from the New Years' regatta. Life in NC is great. Hope to see you soon in the new year at another get together of Little British Cars.

Hi Today, there was a break in the weather in Southern Oregon. I pulled the TF out of her perpendicular slot at the front of the garage (love those car dollies) and fired her up. Went for a drive out in the country with some fresh gas. It felt good. Helped me cope with the sorrow of the 99 year old mother and her pending death, as well as my mother in law with liver cancer. Driving the MG makes me feel GOOD. Tom '54 TF

I took Kermit out today for a short test drive this morning after retorquing the head and adjusting the valves. The tremperature was in the mid 40's but actually felt pretty good. We are at 6500 feet in Southwest Colorado. I had a valve stick in late September and have just finished reassembling the engine. The car ran really well and it felt good to have him back on the road. Ed Haskel - I'm ready to get to get together in the late spring in Telluride!

The wife and I took the TF1500 out for a nice drive and lunch yesterday. SoCal temperatures were in the 80's! Condolences for those of you having your cars wrapped snuggly for the winter. Gary TF 1500 (6779)

Took Mobius for a drive Sat., Sun. and today. Weather in the 40's and 50's. I'm accumulating a to-do list for the snow days.

Got you all beat. I live at 9,650' in western Colorado and took her out yesterday, 1/2/12 in low 40's, once again! We should have at least 5 feet of snow out there but it hasn't snowed twice all winter. Main roads are dry. Happened in '76 they say, the "winter of no snow". Bad for the ski industry... Art, I'm ready whenever you are. Tempted to suggest it this week but that's pushing our luck? Ed

Ed, I think this week is pushing it a tad but I'm sure ready in the spring - let's plan on it! Art

Here in the UK on New Years day we went in convoy with a hot N type down to the New Forest, about 40 miles for a lunch and tyre kicking with many old cars from a 1920's GN, the odd Bentley and Bugatti and assorted MGs Triumphs. It was cold and wet - it rained very heavily on the way home. There were deep puddles and we couldn't see due to condensation on the windshield and spray from other vehicles. However we managed to keep up a good speed. Sadly our companion did not have a hood and by the time he got home the car was full of water which he had to bale out.

Damn you guys make me mad. 15 degrees here, below zero at the MN/Canada border. will be a while before we can run our cars. Oh well, I can live vicariously thru the board....

RJ, Sounds like you are lucky that those wonderful Lucas components did not get wet and quit. One Who Knows, Jim

| There were over 1000 classic cars gathered at Brooklands Museum on New Year’s Day. I put the hood up when I arrived as it looked like rain. Hood down for the return drive but the rain got me 5 minutes from home. You can see from the lack of colour fading that the hood is rarely up. | Well, has been snowing off and on all day in the hills surrounding Portland, so no drive for me! Don |

The wind-chill to-day was equivalent to -40 c&f. I think I'll leave the TD in the garage till it warms up a bit. George

Dave, What is the black car next to yours???

| ...and here on the Great Canadian Plains, it's -43º with the windchill. The chances of starting the TD on a day like this are roughly the same as me getting a date with Bo Derek. And to think that in 1916, my grandfather decided to come north from Minnesota in order to get free land in Alberta while his brother decided to go farm oranges in some funny little town called Torrance. Hmmm, I bet there are som TD's that started this morning in Torrance.
