MG TD TF 1500 - Exhaust for TF with Volvo engine
| I'm restoring a TF 1500 with a Volvo B 18 engine that was fitted in the 60s when the original XPEG caught fire and was thrown away. I need to replace the exhaust system which is virtually none existant and am looking for recommendations from owners out there with the Volvo conversion. I am considering the standard TF 1500 muffler; or an MGB system using a front resonator and rear muffler; or a standard Volvo P1800 front and rear muffler system. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks Andy |

| I'd take it to a hot-rod muffler shop and have one fabricated; less hassle and less work for litle more money. Tom Lange Bar Harbor, Maine |

| I've got a 53 TD/B18, still in pieces. I agree with Tom about sourcing the exhaust system. Rather than buying, and then adapting, an existing system, it's quicker, more efficient, and probably as cheap, or cheaper, to have a muffler shop fab a custom system from scratch. |

| Andy, I have a customized Chevy pickup that the standard exhaust system for that year won't fit. I took it to a regular muffler shop out in the sticks and he made a beautiful duel exhaust system for it for less than the regular single factory system. It looks very professional. I'd do what the others have suggested and take it to a muffler shop. You'll need to take the car there for them to put it on a lift. Believe it or not, it can be done while you wait. PJ |

| Not a good shot of the exhaust, but a TD Volvo. #1

| #2 I think a better job of fabricating the carb breathers would have been in order.

| Thanks for your advice guys and so I will take it to the local muffler shop and have them fabricate a system for me. PJ thats a very innovative air cleaner set up for the front carb. Andy |
