MG TD TF 1500 - Engine out, now the work begins.
| So my TD's engine and tranny are out of the chassis, and now my work, cleaning and repairing various parts of the car begins.... While I have done several other cars, the amount of bits and pieces seem to have grown exponentially with this car. Picture attached Edward

| I know what you mean - my '64B was way less complicated than the '52 which is my current project. I am a little ahead of you in that my engine/gearbox are back in the redone chassis and has been test run. I am waiting for either warmer weather or biting the bullet and turn the heat on in my shop space so I can complete the painting of the body tub and sheet metal. Good Luck! Don Scott |

| Edward, The picture of your engine and gearbox is basically what I just finished. I just replaced them in the restored frame. Mine of course are clean and new:) I have a few more expensive things to do before first start up in 35 years. Good luck to you. Rob |

| Fortunately most of the engine internals have been redone by previous owners, so my engine is mostly getting better seals...I am doing the Moss rear bearing seal, which I've read several threads and articles about...So I know what I need to do to make it right... Also replacing the pan gasket....Though it was done less than 2500 miles ago, (by PO), it leaks like the proverbial sieve. I took a peek at the throw-out bearing, through the inspection port, and even though it looks o.k., I'm replacing it....Will also look at the clutch faces and pilot bushing....Since I have no idea when that was last serviced. Planning on new tranny seals , on the front. Timing chain cover gasket will be redone, as well as the side lifter-galley cover gasket....It also leaks badly. I'm going to break tradition, and use "The Right Stuff", which is a synthetic rubber product....Though expensive, it will seal anything, and becomes real rubber... It is also easier to remove than RTV silicone. I've used it on everything from windscreens to pan gaskets with great success. Image of the chassis as it sits , attached. (Notice front suspension that has already been done by PO...Yeah!) Edward
