MG TD TF 1500 - Engine Oil Capacity
Hi The WSM has the sump capacity at 10.5 pints, 12.6 US pints or 5.96 litres. As I am using an XPAW (4/44) block with the XPAG sump and the later modified horizontal oil filter, I have to fit a new dip stick tube. I drained the sump and refilled with the above mentioned 5.96 litres of oil so I can get the correct position for the Full position on the dipstick and tube. (the oil filter is also empty) Does the 5.96 litres capacity include oil in the oil filter? (ie. should I a raise or lower the dipstick "full position" above or below that oil level?) I could find no mention of this in the Archive articles on the dipstick length / position. thanks in advance Stuart

Yes it does. Either put in less oil or shorten the tube or achieve oil presssure (and thus a full filter) to get the correct mark placement.

Dave, thank you for your quick (and early morning - it is 10pm Friday here) reply. Now to find the archive threads on getting oil into the filter before starting the motor.

Found the treads. Take spark plugs out and turn motor over with crank-handle until pressure is achieved.
