MG TD TF 1500 - Early TD chronometric speedo
By any chance does anyone have an early speedo with the correct trip meter reset shaft and knob? My Jaeger speedometer is missing this piece and I would like to make a new one if possible as they never seem to come up for sale. If you have one, I just need the measurements and maybe a picture or two, also a description of how it fastens to the trip meter shaft. I know the later ones slip over the shaft and then there is a small screw to fasten it in place...is this the same? Thanks Brian

Brian, pretty sure the later ones use a small cotter or split pin to fasten, not a screw.

Brian, I'll be looking at one tomorrow and I'll try to get some photos and measurements. warmly, dave

| I have a 51 TD. I made a shaft and knob. Is the onw you are looking for like the one in the attached picture? If so I have drawings. I also have several lifetimes worth of cotterpins and would be happy to send a couple. I did cheat a bit and I made a coupling for mine. If you need drawinfs let me know. Jim B.

Jim That is exactly what I need. I would really appreciate copies of the drawings but I seem to be in the same position with cotter pins, but thanks anyway. My email address can be copied and pasted into an email if you send tham that way. Appreciated Brian

I had a similar problem in that the shaft had broken off inside the speedo. I found that the shaft and knob from an early MGB speed has the same fittings but needs to be extended by about 1- 1.1/2 inches. Now works fine. Mick 52 TD
