MG TD TF 1500 - door hinge pillars

i am in need of replacing a left hand door hinge pillar on my tf. i have one from a td not used in an earlier restoration. is the td door pillar the same as the one used for the tf? the moss catalog lists two different numbers but they look the same in pics. HELP

J,

I checked the B&G calatloge, and it looks lke the TD and TF left door pillars, are different.

Even if its only a single door that you're working on, and you have to replace the pillar; now's a good time to make some changes to the door pillar and perhaps the door too.

Modifications should be made, especially to the left door, so as to not have to rely on screws going through the wood to secure the striker plate.

Modify the pillar so that there is metal on the far side, so that, instead of using wood screws, you are using metal screws or bolts passing through the wood, and fastened by nuts, or better, nylock nuts on a steel backing plate to permanantly secure the striker plate. If its too tight, counter-sink the metal plate and the nut.

This way, you can keep your latch tight for as long as you live!
