MG TD TF 1500 - Distributor identification
Is there a place where I can look up the numbers stamped on my 1955 MG TF distributor and get the technical information about it? From what I'm able to see it looks like the numbers are: D24 40368A D437 353 some of the numbers are pretty lightly stamped and I may have mistaked a "A" for a "4" or vice versa. THANKS!!!

Like so many changed original items on TF1500s,I suspect you have a replacement late TD distributor! Your numbers indicate the distributor was manufactured by Lucas in March,1953. The original TF distibutors were numbered 40367. Rob Grantham TF3719("Aramis"),TF9177("Athos").

Bud, According to the curves my early TD should be advanced about 23 degrees at 3,000 RPM not 30 degrees as so many have suggested here on this board and elsewhere. Does anyone have a suggestion as to whether or not I should retard it down to 23 degrees? Mort
