MG TD TF 1500 - 'Different' MG

Got into a discussion the other day about an MG that I believe was unique to the US. Perhaps someone can recall. I can't.

I believe it was based on the MG (AKA Austin. AKA Morris) 1100 FWD chassis. It was an open car with cut-down doors. Can't even remember the name.

Help !!!

There's an MG1100 website here - no mention of it http://www.justbritish.com/mg1100/

At least one company in the UK, Crayford, produced small numbers of conversions of BMC/BL 1100/1300 cars. There's a Crayford MG shown about half-way down the page at

No sign of cut-down doors though.

Not exclusive to North America - but possibly the Mini Moke?
Steve Gee

Nope. None of these.

Definitely an MG and I suspect it may have been some local (US) coachbuilder that made a handfull.

Gotta put on my thinking hat. Maybe I'll try one of the other forums.

Thanks for the tries, folks.

Then it must be the Magenta kitcar?

What did I win?

Willem, it looks like you did win! But I have no idea what the prize might be.

Well if I'm right it'll teach Gord not to say awful things like: "Maybe I'll try one of the other forums". ;-)

I found it by Googling "MG 1100 London Sydney" because I've always admired the team that rallied such a contraption. The result was: http://www.londonsydney77.com/memories.html

Nice try Willem, but that's not it.

I've got some pix around here .... somewhere ....

Innocenti?

OK Gord, and I thought I had it nailed! MG 1100 based open and cut down doors. I'll guess you'll have to try the other boards...

I wish I'd never asked now!
