My car 1953 mgtd engine no xpag/td2/26548. Car does not have id plates want to install new plates with info. I have looked for chassis no on the front rail.
I found nothing assume the rail repaired. I have eng. no and chassis no. that is close to my eng no. I can
interpolate but may not be correct method. I am pretty sure original engine. my 53 a later modle because has armstrong shocks. any ideas where else I

I will check the archives, but didn't we look into this question a few weeks back?

It's difficult to imagine why the number is not on the left dumb iron. I'd be concerned that the number has been intentionally removed. Is there evidence that the entire frame extension has been replaced?
See http://www.ttalk.info/Tech/CarNumber.html for alook at the number location. Any chance that yours is covered by the fender sheet metal? Bud

I had to remove all the old grease and paint before my number showed up on the front dumb iron. Clean with solevent the entire exposed area of the LH dumbiron under the wing mount and you may find it is there.

By process of elimination the production records at www.tregister.org show that car TD 26106 was fitted with engine XPAG/TD2/26548, built 17 March 1953.
Engine numbers do not run in sequence.
