MG TD TF 1500 - Carbs

Hi

I'm about to remove the carbs from my TD MKII for cleaning and possibly also rebuilding. I see that Moss has a DVD for rebuilding carbs, which causes my question.
Everybody says that the SU's are extremely simple, so would it be of any advantage to me to get the DVD before beginning the job? I must say that I've never done SU's before, but on the other hand Moss doesn't give these DVD's away. Also I've found a company in the UK where the price of the kit is just under 2/3 of the price Moss charges - apparantly for the same parts. Is there big difference in quality of these kits? After all Moss doesn't alway get A+ for all their stuff.
Thanks in advance

Torben,

when I did my first SU rebuilds many many years ago, I read some books about the theme and just started. We did not have cd's or DVD's then, but I think it will help you to justify the amount of work to be done and it will help you to feel safe when starting with your H4 carbs.

Torben,

I'm a complete beginner but I completely rebuilt my carbs with the help of the technical guides and spares from the SU website.

PS. also take a look at John Twist's University Motors videos, especially the Drop Test video for the pistons.

I did get the Moss DVD and have found it to be helpful. I also ordered, and read through, the tech manuals offered by the SU website mentioned my AJ. Together I found these to be excellent references particularly for me who had no previous experience with SU carbs.

Hi all

Thanks again for all your comments. great to have access to such devoted people! I've already watched the videos from John Twist and with the SU web page I think I'll give it a try without the DVD - if I fail I guess I'll have to contact this forum once again..
Btw, Jim - we still use danish kroner in Denmark :-)
