MG TD TF 1500 - carb polishing question
| Assuming someone decided to cleanup the piston chambers prior to a rebuild and filed, sanded and sanded and sanded some more and then polished to the point where they actually looked pretty good, what would be best to spray on them to maintain the polished look. In the past I put lacquer on brass and it did not last too long. Would regular auto clear coat work. As always, thanks for your advice. Tim |

Nothing! Final polish them with Mothers Mag wheel polish and forget them for a year. It seems to give a protective coating to the part. Easy to touch up when on the car when needed. These on our 72 were final polished with Mothers. PJ

| I second the above, and think Semichrome polish works well too. I tried the Eastwood clear stuff on some of the brass/copper and it seems to tarnish underneath. Obviously this makes it a pain to remove the clear and re-polish. George |
