MG TD TF 1500 - Can I R&R TD engine/tranny as a unit?
I am going to be removing the "Rocky's" ('52TD), body, this Winter, for some needed TLC, and want to remove the engine and transmission, as well. One of the restoration guides, shows assembling the engine to transmission, in the frame.... I would rather just pull it and replace it as a unit... Any reason that I can't do it this way? On my "B's", it was far easier as a unit. Edward

I have done it before that way. Used the Oberg Tilt and pulled the entire engine, tranny.

| Edward, Remove and replace as a unit is definitely the way to go. Be sure to put the rear tranny mount on before replacement, saves the wrestle job getting it to align the attach bolt. You an use my engine hoist with leveler, if you want - it's just sitting here.

Where else but this board could you ask for advise and be offered use of an engine hoist! What a great bunch of folks.

edward, i think it makes it easier if the remote has been removed. regards, tom

You have to remove the remote before pulling the whole thing out. If you are not doing any tranny work I would just pull the engine.

R.Lambert Thanks for the offer, but I do have my own hoist, and leveler....Yes, this is a great forum! Regarding the "remote", I assume (HA!), you are talking about the shifter.... Tom My body and tub will be completely off the frame, when I do the R&R, so I wouldn't think there would be any interference....am I wrong? Edward
