MG TD TF 1500 - Brown and Gammons
Somewhere here I placed this same question 2 days ago but I can't seem to find where I stuck it. So I apologize for the redundancy. I just discovered Brown and Gammons from something I read on this forum. My question is are they a worthwhile company to work with for parts? Does it turn out to be much more money to ship from England? Is their stuff of better quality being from England? Right now I need engine parts for a rebuild. Thanks to you all.

I had a layover in Luton, near London and one of the contributors mentioned that it was not far from their shop. I did drop in and visit and picked up their version of the Moss rear main seal. Other than being anodized red, it's the same thing. My personal opinion is that it's unlikely you'll save any money by buying from them over Moss or Abingdon Spares but the shop is pleasant to visit. I happened to be getting off my trip in the UK and flying home as a passenger so I recovered the VAT. If you order from them to ship to the US you don't have to pay VAT but you will pay shipping. It's possible they might be running a special on something you need so I would compare.

Thanks JE. I appreciate the comeback. I worry about quality. I've seen some scary things; having to rework control cables and rubber part failures in the past with our beloved local guys.

The founders of the firm Jerry(?) Brown and Ron Gammons were/are MG enthusiasts and T-type racers in the extreme. Ron was chairman of the MGCC and his 18/80 was very well restored. Their exploits in an MGB in Alpine rallies are well documented. This says nothing about their present parts quality, but I can't imagine that they would sell very inferior parts.

I have purchased items from them that I could not get from U.S. suppliers. Two specifics come to mind: The under dash-shield and the cast brake & clutch peddles for the TF. Never had any problem with their quality.

I cast no aspersions on their quality; my observations are strictly in reference to price. If they are the only place where a part is available, well, the price is right!

I have bought from B & G on several occasions, their parts have always been first rate, and service exemplary, they do have some parts that the US based suppliers do not carry, and they have some high performance parts for T series cars...

Thanks to all you fellas. It's always great to have new sources. Time to convert pounds to dollars.

I experienced their quality as good and their pricing as fair. Deliveries in the past went quick and well. Recently I unfortunatly had to test their responsiveness to a complaint and I found it extremely terrible. It took fiftheen days before the first response came to e-mails (finally send to several of their addresses including sales and feedback and several staff members). And than five months (and many more e-mails) till finally the failing part got replaced. The failure as such was never doubted or disagreed about but it took extremely long to get it exchanged. greetings, huib

I starting buying from B & G back in the 90's and have always been pleased with the quality of their parts I have bought MGA and T series from them. They are more correct in factory interior colors than Moss. Cheers, David
