MG TD TF 1500 - brake switch
Finished up entire brake system and ready to bleed. After cleaning up the brake light switch, I noticed two sets of numbers on bottom of switch. #31082B, which may be the part number, and on opposite side marked 4-51, which is the date the car was built. Is it possible that its the original switch and they dated them? Or coincedence? The switch on my other TD lasted 60 years. Bob

Bob - Don't know if the 4-51 is the date the switch was manufactured, but I do know that the original Lucas switches were very long lived - unlike today's replacement switches (one of which lasted me all of 2 weeks). Cheers - Dave

I have the following information. Factory service parts list: MG part no. 3H1894 Lucas part no. 31082 Larry

Most Lucas parts (assemblies, not pieces) are dated by week and year WW YY, dashes or slashes sometimes but not always separate WW and YY. FRM
