MG TD TF 1500 - Brake Lining Source

Anybody have a source for brake linings? Tnx Bud
Bud Krueger (TD10855)

Im at that point too Bud.

I had the left front linings come un-glued a couple of weeks ago and put in my spare, but used set, and ordered a new set from Moss (on special for July).

The linings I removed were drilled shoes, but the lining had been bonded over the rivet holes. The set Moss sent me are bonded. The box indicated they came from .... ta daaa - China!

I had called Abingdon earlier, to find out who they use for bonding, but was told that their chap doing it, had retired and that they no longer have a source to do brake shoe bonding. Seems this is a dying art.

Since my removed set are drilled, I'm going to make them (my back-up set) rivetted. Much easier.

Frankly, for the standard duty that my car performs, I can't really see the difference.

I just had mine done locally in Portland Ct at a place called "ALL FRICTION" He did a real nice job, chamfering the leading and trailing edges, put in a few cross channels for dust elimination,, even matched the shoes to the drum radius,,,, It was a lot less than Moss or ABS,, and I didnt have to pay shipping costs, or core charges,,or core shipping. It took about a week to get done. The place is clean and they know what they are doing!

I use Brake & Equipment Warehouse. They even do things for Jay Leno. Located in Minneapolis, and will offer the same services Steve Mentioned. The phone number is in the brakes section of my website.

Bud - call around and find a truck brake place; they can usually do or refer you to the right place - these guys are so embattled that the stick together!

Thanks for the responses, folks. My main goal here is to try to hold down the out-of-pocket costs to get the bane of my existence, 'the53', on the road. I'm willing to rivet my own, if I can just find the linings. Bud

Bud,
Going to a local place will keep your costs down. I've had shoes bonded at a place in New Orleans for a cost of less than $30 a wheel ($15 X 2)...compare that to the cost of just the Moss linings.

Gene, I think I paid about $20 for linings for an axle (4 linings) with rivets. The source was in the UK, but I can't seem to find it. Bud

Utility Trailer does them here, just tell the it is for a boat trailer or something. They won't do if it is for a car. Geore

Interesting idea, George. Thanks. Bud

Try these guys. I know that they reline shoes, but I don't know if they will sell materials.
