MG TD TF 1500 - Bonnet prop is in R & D

Got one made up but have a few issues to work out. No I won't be building any for distribution. Yes I will publish a how to, if and when I get all the bugs worked out. Materials from NAPA and True Value for under $20.00 for both sides. Here's your material.

Are welding skills required?

At this point, yes I'm afraid so. I do have another idea which might avoid the welding. It's R & D don't cha know. The idea was make it simple with parts you can get off the shelf and assemble with ordinary tools. Took a twist when I couldn't find a bracket to match the one I didn't use that came with the overflow container.

Another take on your radiator stay bar bonnet prop LaVerne.
Components:
1. Steel rod with locating pin at one end and a rubber protector at the other.
2. Eye bolt with washers, lock nuts and rubber sleeve all assembled.
3. Bracket.

Me thinks you should have "MG" stamped in somewhere only because I was amazed at how many places "MG" showed up when I first got the TD - even on the gas cap. Looking good otherwise.

LaVerne, let us know when the proto is done. I can make one, just need some directions. Cold up here in winter and my shop is warm so can spend some time with the thing. Like the idea.

I have them done and with a slight redesign it required no welding. I think Rod has a superior design but I'm going to stick with what I have for now. If Bud would be willing to put it on "T" talk I'll write it up with photos and you can decide if it's right for you. .

I like that. Definately a project to do after I get this Triumph motorcycle restored.

Send it along LaVerne. It'll be up ASAP. Bud
