MG TD TF 1500 - ASA 1000GT

I am idle on the TD while waiting on parts so I was thinking back about a car my father owned. The car was a rare ASA 1000GT. Ferrari design sold to the ASA company. He bought it around 1990 and it is a stretch to say it was in rough condition. It was actually a real 'POS'. I am sure it had been raced due to the roll bar inside the cab. The body was undamaged but the engine was in poor shape. I never thought he would get it to run but his patience was much greater than mine has ever been. He got it to run and even drove it around the block a time or two. But as with most of my fathers cars it sat around for years waiting to be restored. I think my mother always resented his passion for cars because when he died about ten years ago she wasted no time selling all of them including the ASA and an MGBGT. I told her not to sell it but she would not listen. I am lucky to have grabbed the TD when I did. I think the guy paid her about $500.00 for it. I was looking on the internet to see what they sold for and saw that a restored ASA recently went for $81,000.00. I saw one in about the same shape as the one my father had sell for $39,000.00. I can't wait to tell my mother. Is that mean?.....Yes, Yes it is. But I'm gonna do it:)

...Now Rob....remember 'karma'..... you will sell your TD and the new owner will call and say he found 10,000 stuck behind a door panel....and besides...she's your mom....

Gordon, good point. Bud, sorry but my computer has been down. Yes I got it, and had my gearbox apart that night. Sent you a letter yesterday. My gearbox was in perfect shape except for that sliding hub synchro fracture. Even the layshaft looked great. The car had 72000 miles on it. The gearbox must have been rebuilt. That loose nut on the first motion shaft must have allowed enough play to cause the fracture.
