MG TD TF 1500 - Are They The Same?

Are MGB, MGA, and T series front Armstrong shocks the same? If there's a difference, what is it? Reason I ask is, I have 6 MGB front shocks, 2 like new. PJ

I can't say about the MGA but the T' and B's are not the same. I don't know all the differences. The shock body to frame mounting points I believe are the same. The bodies are different as are the wishbone arms. Moss sells a kit that uses the B shocks as a replacement for the T shocks, Doable but I don't know what all the special parts are.

I believe that MGA shocks are physically interchangeable with TD/TF Armstrong shocks, except I can't speak to the valving issues. Peter Caldwell must know right off the top of his head. MGB shockers are indeed different.

The T and the A probably have the same bolt pattern but the direction of the body is different. The A has the body facing toward the engine and the T has the body facing toward the wheel. You could probably rotate the arms 180 degrees and it should work but you have to be sure that you have the same shock travel up and down. Have a good day!

LED, The Moss kit seems to refer converting to tube shocks, which I would not do. I'll probably send these out for a rebuild. Thanks to all! PJ

Part # 264-398 Paul. Kit uses MGB front shocks. You might inquire if they would just sell you the new upper trunnions and then you could use your B shocks but I doubt if they will.

At $999.95 I doubt they sell many. I sent my TF and TD shocks to Peter for rebuild and thats what I would recomend.

The arms are different between MGA and MGB.
