MG TD TF 1500 - Any known POs for TD17398 ?
| My TD 17398 (1952) that I bought some years ago in Germany was originally an export to the US (EXLNA) according to the T-Register. The latest trace I have is that it came to Germany from the UK in the late 90s, and now I´m trying to find out a bit more about its history if at all possible (photographs, POs, modifications etc). It is ivory with red interior (not sure though if original) and as a special item has bobbed fenders and HS4 carbs. See photo Anyone aware of POs in the US between its manufacture and the end of the millenium that might have some more information ? Any insights are highly appreciated Best Regards Mike

| Mike- Can't help with your search, however, my RHD '52 MK2 TDC/17198 must have been along side yours at some point in the factory. Went to Hong Kong, then UK and finally here in 1970. Has bobbed fenders as well. Paul |

| Paul, thanks for the info - interesting journey as well. Do you by any chance know if the bobbed fenders came out of the factory or if they are an aftermarket modification ? I´ve come across a few by now, and really like the looks. Best Regards Mike |

| Mike, The bobbed fenders (clipped wings ???) were a typical aftermarket modification and (very ?) popular in the States. Usually only the rear of the front wings was modified but sometimes the front is opened up too giving a larger gap between bumper and wing. Look at the dark red car on the cover of the old magazine here reproduced. Hope this helps, Nick, TD3232

| No sign of it in the NEMGTR TSO CD-ROM. Bud |

| Mike You probably know your TD was imported from California (EXL/NA) around 1989 and owned in the UK by A. James Welham of Brentwood, Essex. It was registered TSU 900 and was ivory/red then. In a T Register membership survey he mentions the shortened and rounded off front wings and also says car runs very hot and boils but no doubt you have sorted out that problem by now. No other ownership details in UK. Roy Miller |
