MG TD TF 1500 - An NEMGTR Celebrity in our Midst

The latest TSO arrived yesterday. In it is the official announcement that our own D.Sanders, VT, is none other than David Sanders, the newly elected Chairman of The New England M.G. T Register. I'm sure that we all congratulate David on his election to the office and wish him the best in his work to come.

Gee, David, you might want to check the archives for a thread 'The New England MG 'T' Register, LTD.' and see how some members feel about the directory.

Best of luck. Bud Krueger #9826

With David Sander now in the seat, perhaps a wee bit of background would be helpful.

David & his Dad, Bill and Mom Janet are long-time members of the register and had several MGs before David got involved. They live in the hamlet of South Cambridge which is actually on the back-side of the Stowe mountain (Mt. Mansfield).

It is here that one finds the ‘Garage Mahal’ as Bill Sander has named it. He has several buildings that house his car collection that I would estimate to be in the 20 to 30 range. Even before David became involved, Bill and Jan owned a TC and a TF.

More importantly however, following the death of Frank Churchill, they bought Frank’s TC, and later, Frank’s fateful TD, which David has tastefully restored to its original condition (as I remember it in 1952), complete with red wheels.

The Garage Mahal garage has a spacious restoration area, where David is now restoring another TF.

This forum is not the place to go into nostalgic connections that the Sanders have with the register, but I can tell you from my own associating with the family, that Dave will do a good job. I can only hope that those of you in the East or just visiting, take time to meet the Sander family and especially David.

The New England MG T Register is home to many US and Canadian MG owners, with the number now nearing the 13,000 mark

For those of you reading this that are not in North America, the NEMGTR serves as our main T-Series Register and we have a superb magazine ‘The Sacred Octagon’ or TSO, the name given by one of the original founders, Frank Churchill, who by the way, can also be credited with the term GOF, or ‘Gathering of the Faithful’, a name now used by many other automobile clubs for their gatherings.

In 2014, the New England MG T Register will be celebrating 60 years.

I'm sure we all wish David Sander well in his new challenge.

This thread inspired me to log on to the New England MG T Register and apply for membership. (I hope a valid credit card is enough of a recommendation to be approved as a member.......? )

An impressive website. Almost bought the Sacred Octagon archives CD at the same time. Will probably do some day.

Jan,

You'll love the magazine. The Editor, Dave Lawley has extensive MG experience, having owned at one time, the only NB Airline Coupé. Today he owns a TC.

He's a professional publisher and his work is excellent. The magazine is full of colour photos, themselves a story.

Hello everybody. Thank you for your kind words. I have been following this thread and appreciate your support.
Stay tuned to Pole Position and TSO. I have some ideas to generate new interest in the club. I can discuss further after the Natter. I may need some help with future activities, and some help at future GOFs.
The Register has been an important part of my life for 32 years, and I am quite prowd to be the new chairman.
Thanks again for all your support.
