MG TD TF 1500 - 'All Original'

Catch it here:

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/mg/td/1327855.html

"All original" with two tone paint and interior.

Catch the original angle of the driver's side door handle.

Seats right out of a 1956 Buick Special.

All it needs is a wing tip pattern on the bonnet to finish the look of a 1940's golfer's brogue.

That's the same car I found on eBay and posted about. I'd bet there are a lot of sins hiding under that $75 dollar paint job. I'm not trashing the car, I don't do that. I am however trashing the listing. One of my biggest pet peeves is listings that outight lie about the car How that can be called "all original" is beyond me. All original? Really?

I couldn't resist... sent them an email.

"Stock No.: 8834 "all original MG".
Seriously ..someone at your dealership needs to do a little research.
This car is far from being "all original". At best this is a project car that would take a considerable amount of work to get it anywhere near being close to "correct" for a 1953 TD."

Those seats almost look like they came right out of a Bass Boat.

Richard,
Funny, I said this about it last time:
"Wonder where my 18’ 72 Starfire Tri-hull ended up…the interior looked just like this!"

But it's safer to drive! It has a padded dash! (Grin). And, that model A Ford horn is great for parades and so is the fancy paint job, especially if a Shriner clown buys it. Only joking. It looks like a good candidate for a total restoration, especially if the numbers are right. I agree that the main problem here is the ad and it should be written by someone who knows the car and TDs in general. Gone to take a hunk of cash to put this car back where it belongs. Old saying, buyer beware! JMHO PJ

I mentioned a few of these points to the dealer, and he very graciously wrote bck,

"Hello Tom, I agree with you and I appreciate your email... in the future we
will stay away from such a definitive comment as "all original", unless of
course, we can stand by that statement. Best regards, David."

I think this is one case where we should not shoot the mesenger.

Recently pulled my horns...not working.
Till I get them shipped to LR, (the horn doctor), I got a set of "temps" at Harbor Freight for $12.00.
Choice was a pair of those or the "ah-ogga" one shown in the pix.

This dealer also advertizes a TF with a 1466 cc engine, but car does not have "1500" badges or rear reflectors. Most likely they simply looked at the specs. for 1955 MG TF and not that specific car.
