MG MGF Technical - Wrapping Manifolds?

Hi, Just a quick one, what are peoples opinions on exhaust wrap? Ive read conflicting stories on its benefits and some of how much damage the wrap does, (it invalidates janspeeds warrenty). I would appreciate peoples first hand experiances with the stuff.
Many Thanks
John

Don't do it on an alloy motor.

You will retain heat at the exhaust valve side of the head and the K Series is already a bit marginal here.

But maybe wrap the cooling pipe that runs right next to the downpipe - mine had been rubbing on one part and had split its outer sheath :) Oo err!
Tony

Hi all,
Thanks Deborah, after reading your responce i was straight under the engine cover and put the heat shield back on. The one on the alternater side went on fine, it bends around the nearest down pipe a bit, but the right hand one wont fit at all. Instead of using the brackets provided i tried to bend the exsisting bracket, fixed to the bellhousing, but to no evail. (if anyones got an idea of how the janspeed brackets go then please speak up!)
However, Thats a fab idea Tony, I'll wrap the coolant pipes and get one of those heat shield thingies for the alternator too!
While im at it, has anyone improved the insulation and sound proofing on top of the engine cover and the rear fire wall, behind the seats?
I've been looking around and Fatmat and Dynamat seem do products that fit the bill,ie self adhesive matting, can anyone advise on installing these products? Has anyone else done something similar?
Anyway, I'm off to install my TF stearing rack and black windscreen trim in the sunshine while summer lasts.
Thanks for putting the effort to reply.
John.
