MG MGF Technical - VVC Setup
I have taken my VVC head to the machine shop for new valves and they called to ask for the setup for the Variable Valve Control. Where can I find this or does anybody have a simple method I can pass on to them Many thanks in advance Clive

Have they taken off the VVC? If so, when my local (non MG) garage did it, they had to borrow the tools and DVD from an MG dealer. Better give Dieter a call. Nice to see you've made it to the 2nd half of the 20th century. ;-)

err, I've no sense of the VVC. Beside of *use the special tool set in case you need to take it off* Some hopefully useful advise is here. http://www.mgfcar.de/k_engine/valter.htm Click links on the bottom also.

Dieter's link covers the key points: To assemble the internals of the VVC mech is quite straight forward, check all the little blocks slide freely and that the flanges on the rotors are way from each other so the needle races are located between them. Assemble the VVC mechs to the ladder BEFORE fitting the ladder to the head, and WITHOUT the hydraulic control unit in place. When synchronising the mechs, align the slots (underneath of mech) between the housing and the eccentric sleeve which meshes with the control sghaft. Once in place on the head, you can check these are still in the right place via a hole (~4mm) in the ladder above the cam journal. The mechs should also be in this position when the rack from the hydraulic unit is inserted - AFTER bolting the cam ladder to the head and tightening the mechs to the head.
