MG MGF Technical - Tyres Michelin
A popular brand for tyres in general in my country is Michelin. The offer great properties and also comfort. Currently I have the original Continentals and they make the car rather bumpy. Maybe just what one needs in fast corners but my driving style is somewhat more leasure oriented so, some more comfort is appreciated. I checked the archives but could find not too much information about Michelin tyres on an MG TF. Who uses this brand and what is your experience on TF or F? Greetings, Huib

Hi Huib, I had Continental Sports on my Mazda3 and they are the most shocking tyres I have had in my life, especially in the wet. Spinning all the time and no grip. Not very good for Aussie conditions and long distant driving. I changed them to Kumho and they are terrific. On my MGF I have had Dunlops ,Bridgestones, Michelin and Falkens. I found the Michelin the best and most comfy. The Dunlops, Bridgestone longest wearing and excellent tyre. Falkens shortest wearing for our conditions here in Australia. Cheers Sue

I have Michelin Pilot Exalto on my TF and they are very good. It handles well in wet or dry. They last well and I am now on my second pair of rears. I would recommend them unless you are trying to find cheap tyres, in which case they are not for you.

Thanks you Sue and M, I will contact my Tyresupplier and go for the Michelins. Greetings, Huib

The main problem with the TF ride is the accountants choice of shock absorber. Both Gaz and Spax are supposed to be big improvements and the best of all the is VHS handling kit either direct or from MGOC. VHS use a Bilstein developed for this application. I have Yokohama Sport tyres all round on my car and they are a definte imprvement on the Contis it came on. If you search the archives you will find Toyos highly recomended for the TF, but they were out of stck in V rating when I was looking. The TF needs V rating for sidewall stabilty, not outright speed.
