You need a 4 wheel alignement check. Having the front tracked on an MGF is a waste of time and money. Once you have had it correctly set up it will feel like a different car, before you go the expense of the alignement set up though, you should ensure the car is pumped up to the correct height ( if it is a MGF not a TF ).

I believe MGR's primary criteria for the original geometry spec was to make the car as safe as possible, with tyre life a secondary. The Trophy, having better downforce (due to the bumper splitter), is less in need of front toe out to keep it stable at speed. Over many sets of tyres & track days I've experimented with alternative alignment settings, and found that going for a more front-wheel-drive geometry (parallel rears, 0.5 toe in front) does improve tyre life without degrading the handling noticeably - it narrows the traction limit just at the point the tyres begin to break grip, so if the rear drifts out it will go quicker & leave less time to correct, but other than that it's no different. This is partly counteracted by the front toe-in giving more tendency to understeer, so overall the car will behave pretty much the same as if it had OE spec alignment, but stress the tyres less. Have a look at Rob Bell's site, there's a lot of information which may help you find a setup that works for you.
