MG MGF Technical - Testbook cant talk to car

I had my car hooked up to T4 testbook today but the garage could not get the system to recognise my car. He tried using VIN number etc, but could simply not establish contact with the ECU. Said it has never happened before.

Does anyone know what might cause this?

Is it an ECU problem? I can access it OK using a standard OBD2 reader

Maybe you've got the language set to "Doric".

Hi,
only happends for me on the "old" Test-Book confusers when the intermediate box (the one on the cable to the car connector) is for another Rover car , i.e Rover 400 but connected to an MGF. Had this problem years ago on my F.With the correct box intended for the "F" it was all OK.

You might be right Sam ;)

Carl, good point, but the engineer was certain he had used all the right parts etc. They had an F and a TF in the workshop at the time, so I guess they are used to working on them.

Mystery deepens.

I may try somewhere else, but I dont know anywhere else nearby who has a T4, unless Land Rover garage would ave a connection for the MGF?
