MG MGF Technical - temp gauge problem

Hi im new here i have a 96 (n) 18i non vvc the temp gauge not working have replaced gauge and sensor still not working, temp at normal is 96 fan cuts in and out ok oil temp stays normal, there is no break in the line from gauge to ecu or from sensor to ecu the gauge will short out when put to ground HELP PLEASE !!

Can't help specifically, but I'd be very nervous using my F without a temp gauge. Mine was erratic so replaced the sender unit by the thermostat, and made good all connectors and wiring. Since then it's been fine, it's not a complicated system, so check and double check and you should be ok.
