MG MGF Technical - tappity engine

My vvc has one noisy tappet, are they hydraulic ?

if so what could be causing it ?

Yes they are hydraulic. Usually they tap when first started and then after a couple of minutes they quieten down. They seem to take a little time for the oil to be pumped in to them. Is yours tapping all the time?

hi mike Yes it's noisey all the time are there any oil ways known to block up ?

Graham,
Get your exhaust manifold checked out. I thought I had tappet problems but it turned out to be a loose manifold. I believe others have had the same experience.

As above, I ahd this problem, and it was cured by simply tightening or changing exhasut manifold gasket.
