MG MGF Technical - Stiff gear changes MGTF135 - Fixed
For those that may want to read a $2 bed time story.... here goes....... For the last year I have put up with stiff gear changes in my TF135. It finally got worse and not only was it getting harder to chage gears, but now it was also starting to crunch and the clutch pedal was not engaging until reaching near the top of it travel. I inspected the clutch slave cyclinder and it showed signs of leaking. Took it out, stripped it down and found that the internal seal was not as it should. Inspected the bore and it looked OK. Went to a brake repair shop, and they found me a replacement seal which only cost me $2. I put the system back, bleed it and it is now A1. Easy, Fast and Cheap fix. Cheers, Branko

Getting the same on 1st and 2nd gears Branko - were you loosing hydraulic fluid as a potential first sign of this problem?

Rob, 1st and 2nd gears were the worst. Especially changing down from 3rd to second. 3rd and 4th were OK. I hadn't noticed any fluid loss since i got the car, unitl recently. Actually the gearing was tight from since I got the car. I had thought that it was normal for the TF. The wife never drove it it as it was too hard for her to change down. Have you bleed the system on your car? Cheers, Branko
