MG MGF Technical - speedo

hi all , does anyone know if the later digital odometer speedo will fit the old model?
ian jones

Is there any digital speedo for the MGF/TF????????
Spinder00

*digital odometer* speedo, i.e. the miles/kms display is digital, MY2000 onwards.

It would be possible to fit, but it's not a straight swap - the early speedo is cable driven from the gearbox, whereas the digital odometer version is electronic. Apart from having to change the pickup on the gearbox and wire it through to the dashboard, the feed for the odometer AFAIK comes from the ECU, and I don't think the early ECU gives an odometer output, so it could only work correctly if you fitted a MEMS3 ECU, which wouldn't be a straight swap either...

So I guess you could say Yes, it'll physically fit, but if you want it to function, that's a whole can of worms...

An additional consideration is the Speed Signal to the EPAS changing from the Speedo Head to the Gearbox transducer.
It can be done but basically, it is not worth the hassle.
