MG MGF Technical - Rust in Buttress support

I am in the throws of having this steel box section replaced. This is abox section that is bolted to the main sub frame just in front of the near side rear wheel, and looks as though it supports one side of the engine.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I don't know of any other rear engined MG's

I'll leave the floor now as I've only had to replace rear wishbones (IIRC) and I don't want to tempt the worm
