MG MGF Technical - Reversing lights on

My reversing lights remained on during a recent 25 mile trip (as pointed out by two other motorists). After parking and switching off and then starting up again, they were fine.

However as I'm always reversing out of my home each trip, I suspect I'll be stopping to double check they're not on - at least for a while. Does anyone have any idea what might have caused them to remain on and where I might look to see if there's an intermittent problem?

Hi John,
sounds like problems with either the reverse switch at the gearbox or the affiliated harness.
The Lotus Elise has the same one.
