MG MGF Technical - radio/cd player

I have already posted this request on the general site with no response so am hoping you guys can advise. I am looking for a simple to operate player with good bass response and clear controls to replace exsisting Kenwood fiddly/tinny unit fitted to my TF. Budget around £200.00 inc speakers, or am I asking for too much?

I couldn't stand the Kenwood either!

Fitted a Sony Bluetooth MEX BT-xxxx unit with CD Player, 18 FM channel presets, Traffic announcements and Bluetooth. I think Halfrauds sell them <£130 fitted. It has a graphics equaliser with easy to switch presets for different kinds of output. The Bluetooth will pick up your phone (i.e. handsfree) and any audio streams over Bluetooth (i've a bluetooth transmitter in the earphone socket of an ipod which works well). The Sony is very easy to use without fiddle whilst driving. I've not changed from standard MGF speakers, but am tempted to do so as "todays" speakers are so much better.

As for sound quality, it all very subjective. The Sony unit came out of my business car as it doesn't access the phone's address book and initiate calls over bluetooth. This car now has a Panasonic unit with every feature known to man. Without change of speakers, the Pana produces a better sound than the Sony. But at twice the price! The Sony is easier to use though.

As with most things, you get what you pay for. Sony is a decent spec with a decent output - if you can live with it's blue backlight! You may be better to spend 200 on the head unit and upgrade the speakers later. I'm in Bournemouth and often in the Chichester area. You are welcome to have a listen to my setup if that would help you.

J,

Have you visited this web page?

If not, might be worth registering and requesting a manual.
