MG MGF Technical - Problem numero 2!
Ahh the joys of Mg's .. its all coming back to me now. The latet is my lovley shiny new car has never been brilliant at starting, she turns over a few times before she catches and go's. Yesterday i finihsed work jumped in and turned the key and she almost started then didnt. Then there was nothing , tried and tried but no joy. I left her 10 mins went back and she started .. there is also a strong smell of petrol when this is happening. There is nothing else wrong with her , husband has done a fantastic job on head gasket and when she is running she runs perfectly ( possibly using a bit more petrol than she should be though? Im not sure on this as the price has zoomed up and confused me a bit!!) Any chance of some suggestions please we are scratching our heads a bit and i need this sorted ASAP Thanks

Too much petrol could be the oxygen sensor.

Might be the temp sensor. Try taking off the connection, cleaning and refit.

Are you certain it's not just the battery ? You say it would turn over, was it a bit sluggish and then catches ? You say then nothing ? I'm assuming nothing at all, in that won't even turn over ? Brian

try disconnecting / reconecting spade terminal to solenoid (see archives). you can just about reach it if you take off grill over engine and reach down the left hand side of engine.
