MG MGF Technical - non starter
i have a 1996 mgf which after being left for a week fails to start on the key.It has had new plugs, leads, distridutor, coil, battery and still no joy.We started it buy towing it ran a bit rough, but since then it has not run. There is fuel and air.Cam belt is ok,the reason for this comment is that if i diddnt know better i would think the timing was out. can anybody help?

Did you change the distributor rotor arm?
J.A. Fredheim
To be honest J.A.,no i didnt,i suppose on hind sight i should have done, but it looks in pretty good condition.Would this cause the problem though from working one minute to not working the next time we tried to start her ?

You can't tell if it is broken by just by what it looks like, and it is cheap and easy to replace. They are known to fail sometimes. Just to eliminate another possible cause...

Thanks J.A. you were right it was the rotor arm,and like you say if i had changed it first it would of saved me £150.00 . Thanks for your advice
