MG MGF Technical - noisy engine compartment,, iacv ???
Has a loud noise in engine bay when I turn on the ignition,, ( 2005 TF 135) that sound like a "electric squezzing noise" that change level and could last for minutes (if I just leave the ignition on)! BUT it become silent as soon as I pull the connector on the IACV! Car were bought with a slight damadge undergoing repair and is not ready for the road yet but it starts and seems to run ok! The engine management (YELLOW) warning light is on - might it be a "connection" between those two issues??? Might there be a faulty idler? and would that cause the warning light? Thanks again,, all the replies to my other treads have been of great help to us !!

This explains how it works and howto reset it. http://wiki.seloc.org/a/IACV - yes it's Lotus but same engine as your TF. If the car has been damaged (in an accident?) perhaps you have a fractured wiring loom and touching earth. Check the wiring loom strapped to the boot lid hinge and loom from the stepper motor (you call it IACV). Regards Jeff

The throttle depression sounds like the throttle position sensor (TPS) reset. I didn't know it also resets the IACV. Or does it? Nice quick easy test to check IACV operation though, like that! :o)
