MG MGF Technical - My cat is finally cracking up...
| Hi all, Released the cat today, and found it to contain not a furball but a pile of dust and lumps of honeycomb. The layer(s) behind look still in one piece, and feel solid, but this raises a couple of questions that I hope someone may be able to help me with - first, is that cat likely still going to pass an emissions test, and second does the fact that it has begun to break up suggest that what remains may look OK but has pretty much expired? No evidence of impact damage in that area, so I guess it's just end of life, which after 120k miles isn't too shabby. Now, if anyone can provide me with evidence that a sports cat actually increases power, I'll go buy one, otherwise it'll be a boring old ordinary one. Stainless bolts might be finding their way on though, worked up quite a sweat getting what was left of the mild steel bolts undone... |

I'm not sure about increasing power but a few years ago I found fitting a cheap after market one actually reduced/restricted the power. Incidentally your user name is familiar, Mike is that you ? Stu MGOT http://www.mgs-on-track.com/aboutus |
