MG MGF Technical - MGF VVC (99) Engine Management Staying On

Hi Guys

I'm back again :0(
Hope one of you experts might be able to offer some advice!

Left my MG for three days and the battery was completely dead. Battery is one month old so obviously i have a drain on power somewhere. With a volt meter i tested unplugging various things and it seems to be the Engine Management which is sucking about 0.5 amps constantly when the car is switched off. I've waited over half hour in case it was just taking a long time to power down but still drains the same power.

The Engine Management light isn't on but the EPAS is on the majority of the time - could this be related?

For the time being every time i park I'm taking out the 30amp fuse under the bonnet and then plugging it back in again (battery then reads approx 0amps until i start the car again).

My local XPart garage want £75+VAT just to read the error code... This seems like a lot of money to me.

I've heard that there are certain codes (switching the key forward/back etc.) to reset the system - could this help?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered...

Daniel
