MG MGF Technical - MGF Hood Replacement

Hi folks,

I was lucky enough to pick up a 2nd hand hood and a bunch of other bits from a scrap F, but checking it out today the fabric is far from perfect. My hood is functional but pretty tired. I’ve been in the archive and have found links to a couple of suppliers who’d supply a new fabric for c£200 but I’m not sure how much of a PITA they are to fit.

I’ve replaced the plastic screen before and wonder how practical fabric replacement is as a DIY job, given that I can fettle this on the spare frame then fit the whole assembly. I’m on the Isle of Wight which means I can’t easily roll up to a specialist for a complete replacement and would have tie it in with a trip to the mainland etc. Our local upholsterer wants £700 complete, or £320 to fit a hood I supply!

Any thoughts or practical experience would be gratefully received.
