MG MGF Technical - MGF Co2 Help needed
Hi can anyone help please. Our MGF 1998 1800cc just failed its MOT on emissions plus other bits which I can fix? Th lambda readings all passed and it only failed on the co2 on fast idle which was nearly double the max. but it passed on all 3 readings inc the co2 on tickover. Any help please?

How old is the airfilter? Just thinking about the easy and cheap things first. I'd also recommend the "Italian tune-up" - i.e. take the car for a fast road trip, keeping the rpm as high as you can, before going to the test. What are the actual emission figures?

If the spark plugs are not 100% this can cause poor combustion at fast idle, worth a check & clean or renewal. Elderly HT leads can reduce spark efficiency too, renewal often sees a substantial improvement.
