MG MGF Technical - 'LoLarm'
Has anyone used the "LoLarm" low coolant alarm, as written about by Andy Capy in the latest issue of "Enjoying MG"? His piece of kit, comprising red and green warning lights and sound alert for the dash and connected to a transmitter and sensor at the expansion tank, is on sale at £43. I'm interested to know whether is is generally regarded as reliable. Thanks John

I've heard good reports about it.

John I've heard a few reports of false alarms and one in particular when it didn't go off at all resulting in a HGF. However, I understand that Andy has brought out a Mark II version. Whether that will be better or not I can't say. I've had the B&G one for a few years now and never had any bother with it at all. Just to be on the safe side though, I test it regularly by pushing the float down.

Hi John I have one fitted two years now does the job take away the need to keep checking the water level. Could be the best £50 you will ever spend. Andy is just a phone call away any problems sorted by return post. If you set the water level a bit low the alarm will go off /on as the thermostat open and closes this will give you the knowlage that it work every time. Top up and forget it. Simple to fit good instructions can not say more. Regards Roger
