MG MGF Technical - Leaks - definitive answers please!

I've checked the archives but can't find any good diagrams showing places to check for leaks. My F has carpets saturated on both driver and passenger side (the driver side is soaked behind the seat too and all along the door edge). I bought a Mike Satur storm cover a month back, had the carpets nearly dry but it's made no difference and everything is wet again.

If someone can direct me to precise diagrams or clear explanations of where the drain holes and usual leak points are I'd appreciate it - thanks!

If you can picture a seive, then you are well on your way to understanding the problems with water ingress.

If it's that bad, probably best to strip out the seats, carpet and underfelt and try to determine where water in getting in.

Sit inside the car and have someone spray it with water.

It can also depend at which angle the car is sitting.

While you are doing this, it will give you a chance to dry out the carpets and foam again.

It is very likely that water is getting in at various points, so don't think you will crack it right away.

Been there, done that. :-(

Oh boy, yes, so have I. It took me better part of two years to eliminate all the various places where the rain got in. The last one which took ages to find was around the bonnet hinge. I eventually unbolted the hinge, propped up the edge of the bonnet and smothered the area in sealant. Bolted the hinge back and I'm delighted to say the floors now remain dry. Its hard to imagine how a modern car factory could produce a vehicle that was so leaky.
