Hi Peter I do not have a MGF, but i have had bonnet release problems on MGs. First of all you will need 2 people, one to operate the release lever ( assuming it is a lever and not electric release, like some boots on modern cars )while the other person presses down sharply on the bonnet and then release's repeating this at quick intervals. Never failed for me, yet. Then when opened apply liberal amounts of copper grease, or something very similar to make sure it does not happen again. Let us know how you get on. Regards Neil.

If the cable or one of the cable terminations is broken then there is a way of opening the bonnet, but I'm not going to post the details on an open internet forum! I'll happily email you the details if you confirm an email address to send it to - but be warned, if the cable has snapped, it can be a long job!

So Peter have you opened the bonnet and if so how? Or is your battery still of limits.
