MG MGF Technical - hood
Hello all, I have an mgf vvc 1996 model since 12 years now in Istanbul-Turkey. I need to change my hood. I have contacted with several manufacturers (?) in England but I am confused now which one I have to order. Which is the best quality, price no matter. Any experiences about this ? which manufacturer you can propose me? thanks turgut

They all fit so that is not an issue. I think the latest TF version came with a glass window, so you can always see through it, unlike the older plastic version. Best material for quality is probably mohair because it looks good and wears so well. If you are buying a hood complete with frame, make sure it comes with the elstic straps that prevent the the second hoop from jamming. Chris

Try BAS Hoods, Cwmbra, Wales. They do the glass rear sporster hood in most colours. You can 'google' them for their website. Good Luck

Chris your answer is not correct. 1995/6/7 cars have a different hood with a smaller wrap arround at the outer corners of the header rail (recognisable by the good being in 3 pieces across its width with a seam down each side ), this was increased to stop water running into the car when parked at an angle. The later hoods will not fit this frame. But the later frame and hood will fit the car.
