MG MGF Technical - Hmm - TF 135 will not start, alarm fault??
| Hmm,, I m back again with a new thread and a new mistery :-) I ve allready got a lot of help here earlier,, We have 3 MGF & TF 's in our friends posession one allready suppered HGF (MGF 1997) and we repaired a 2001 MGF now on the road for 3 month and we have a 2005 TF with a small body damadge soon back on the road! This TF 135 had damage to front and rear suspension that have been repaired earlier this spring to make it driveable while waiting for finale body repair and paint! It has been starting and driving out and in of storage without major problem! NOW the new issue, after changing LH rearwing there is no longer possible to start the car! Repair were made with battery poles disconected! We have removed all lights, left front wing, bumpers, bonnet and hood! But when we were trying to move it out there were something faulty to the alarm sequece! We refitted door catch on rearwing, applied the bonnet alarm switch with preasure, bootlid were down and still when we turn IGN on the WARNINGLIGHTS start flashing and engine turn but does not start! We also compared the alarm illumn red light in dash and the sequence does not match the running F we have - while we lock it with fob it has a short fast blinking and goes to a slower mode the TF has a longer fast blinking sequnce and seems to "struggle" with the "doorlocking" before it goes to slower blinking mode! AFTER unlock the F with fob the red alarm light goes dark while when we open the drivers door on the nonestarting TF it turns RED (on)! Also when we turn the ignition on the TF it seems like both doorlocks try to pull slightly (they click),, like they get some kind of signal,, but they don't lock doors! We have checked connetors, changed battery on FOBs and the central locking system is working with fobs and key in door! Might welding have damadged something and if so what item,, or have we overlooked anything?? |

| Unfortunately, I have no direct experience with TFs equipped with the Pektron Security Control Unit (SCU), and this functions a little differently to the earlier MGF/TFs with the Lucas 5AS. This does seem to be an alarm fault - and it may possibly be something to do with the SCU - but it is hard for me to judge. I think that I'll be learning as much as you if someone can enlighten us as to the likely problem. Do you have access to a Rover T4 Testbook diagnostic system? This may be very informative... |
