MG MGF Technical - Heater question
Hi, after several years ownership of an MGB GT I have decided to update and recently bought a 2000 MGF 1.8i in very good condition, and have been very pleased with it; a really fun drive. Unlike my old MGB with a poor performance heater I am finding the heater in the MGF to be very good, almost too good, as I have the temperature control set almost to cold without the fan on and it is still roasty toasty inside. Is that normal, as it is taking a bit of getting used to so much heat output after the MGB? I think if I set the heater control any hotter I could cook in it :o) The oil and water temperature gauges show normal, so no problems there...

Ventilation should run cold when set to cold, so I would suspect that the heater control valve may have stuck?

Could also be the wire link from the heater control knob to the valve. Remove one of the centre console side panels (the ones with the footwell lights in them). You should be able to see the linkage and get to it if it needs fixing.
