MG MGF Technical - Harp sound, an angel?
Morning People, I've got a strange harp like noise coming from the passenger side of the car, something somewhere is clearly loose. It's usually caused by going over a bump. Anyone have any ideas? Regards Jeff

It wouldn't be your passenger playing a musical instrument by any chance, maybe it's Mercury speeding you on your way or your radio is tuned to etherial FM :-) Cheers Alan

It's possible although I suspect it's more to do with there being something loose in my car. If at any stage I start to hear voices I shall of course park the car and start walking. Jeff

I'm sure there's a gag in there somewhere about 'The wife harping on at me'... Does the noise happen when a front or rear wheel hits a bump? The most harp-like sound I can think of is a heat shield having come loose, perhaps the one above the exhaust manifold. Can't see why that would sound as if its coming from the passenger side though... The flexi section of exhaust can produce a weird range of noises if the braided cover section has come loose, so worth having a prod around underneath to see if anything's loose. Noise from the underside may be coming up through the cubby/armrest section.

Have you checked the NSR wheel bearing for play recently?
