MG MGF Technical - Green fluid below rear of the car

Hi, Just a quick query about a small green puddle which I have found below the rear of my 1998 MGF 1.8i today. It seems to be quite central below the engine block. I don't think it is coolant as I always check levels prior to driving and they seem to have remained the same. I have just had the suspension height reset last week and am hoping that it is not Hyrogas fluid. Is this fluid a flourecent green colour? As I say the puddle seems to be central as well, not to one side or the other. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hydragas fluid is a mix of antifreeze & distilled water, so while it's usually a flourescent green colour, it's also possible for it to be other colours. The fact that it's not appearing directly under one of the hydragas units could be due to the fluid trickling along the subframe before dripping to the ground. If it's leaking enough to form a puddle then I'd expect to see a drop in ride height - the quantity of fluid in the system is fairly small so even a slight leak will soon show itself.

If the fluid is dripping from the bottom of the sump and not the subframe then it may be coolant, but I suspect a leaking hydragas union/split pipe/failed sphere is more likely - presuming you had the ride height re-set because it had sagged?

My HGF showed up by being a small puddle of green liquid, coolant. I hope I am wrong.

Most of the Hydro fluid sold in the UK is flourescent green. If it is suspension fluid then your suspension should soon start drooping.

Thanks for the advice guys.
I have not had the chance to get under the car yet and check anything out. I'm thinking and hoping it is hydragas. I have always checked the coolant levls which have never seemed to change, and the coolant fluid just doesn't seem to have the same colour as the fluid on the deck.
It's just the centralised position of the puddle which has me stumped.
