MG MGF Technical - Generator compatibility with other MG Rovers?
| Will a generator from any recent MG Rover car fit an MGF? Mine has split due to corrosion in the housing and the stator has distorted so the rotor rubs against it. MGFs are hard to find at breakers in Scandinavia but there are a few Rovers around. |

| I think you mean an Alternator not Generator. Also it depends on which model MGF you have. They used Marelli and then Bosch. Dieters site has some info on this. http://www.mgfcar.de/bosch_parts/index.htm http://www.mgfcar.de/epc/1334.htm ROVER - 200 (RF) , 218K, 400 (RT), 416Si, hatchback, 25 (RF), 45 (RT) , MG ZR 105 120 160, ZS 120 Also this site has cross reference info http://www.startermotor-alternator-store.co.uk/mg-mgf--85-amp-alternator--16-18-b467-3811-p.asp Also this ebay add has info. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROVER-25-45-200-400-MGF-85A-ALTERNATOR-NEW-129_W0QQitemZ180631996425QQcategoryZ10414QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZm263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D30%26pmod%3D130344101822%26ps%3D50 ALT129 ROVER 200 - 400 & 25 - 45 1.1 - 1.4 - 1.6 - 1.8 inc MG ZR, ZS & MGF 85AMP ALTERNATOR TWO BOLT ON CONNECTIONS 1 x 8MM BATTERY CABLE PLUS 1 X 6MM D+ (IF YOU HAVE 1 x BOLT-ON & A PUSH ON CONNECTOR YOU WILL NEED TO BUY OUR No ALT410) 12 VOLT 85AMP 5 VEE PULLEY THE ROVER VEHICLE'S THAT USE THIS ALTERNATOR ARE:- MGF 1.8 95-02 MG ZR 1.8 16V 01-05 ROVER 25 1.1 99-04 ROVER 25 1.4i 16V 00-05 ROVER 25 1.6i 16V 99-05 ROVER 25 1.8i 16V 99-05 ROVER 25 1.8i 16V VVC 00-04 ROVER 45 1.4i 16V 00-05 ROVER 45 1.6i 16V 00-05 ROVER 45 1.8i 16V 00-05 ROVER 214 95- ROVER 216 95- ROVER 218 K-Vi ROVER 214 95- ROVER 416 95- THE ORIGINAL NUMBER'S ARE: 63321239 63321239A 63341239 YLE101530E ALSO KNOWN AS: ACD - ALT129 LUCAS - LRB00314 HELLA - CA1487IR DELCO REMY - DRA3757 XL - 933757 Hope that helps. | Thanks Branko, Of course, the proper name is "alternator". In Norwegian we call it "AC generator". I'll take your list along when I go to the breaker. |

| No Worries, J.A. Off topic, but when I see the word Norway, it so reminds me of 27 years ago when we drove to the Gerienger Fjord in a VW Combi Van which was converted to a camper van. Camping at 2am in the morning, it was still like daylight... What a wonderful place it was. cheers Branko |

| Nven older memories - family holiday in 1948, in Dad's 1937 straight-8 Buick, driving from Oslo to Bergen via Geilo, going down a precipitous mountain pass complete with burnt-out motorbike, and not many weeks after getting home, the steering column shearing as Dad reversed the car in our drive! Never had alternator failure from corrosion - plenty failures to work back in the 70s-80s though. |
